Of God's and Monsters. And the President who can say Jesus

Read the links below. Let your heart embrace the natural sickening freefall so rightly inspired by our current leadership.

Our nation endures the most corrupt leadership in its proud history-a leadership masquerading as a pillar of moral and Christian virtuousness. The real Jesus had an answer to this kind of morality. He cleaned house, sweeping them out of His Father's temple. He refused to tolerate corruption that would lay claim to His Father. Just look at so many of the most prominent "moral" leaders currently offering "leadership" while selling their multi billion dollar snake oil ministries. They stink of moral corruption and the politics of distraction.

President Bush pontificates faith in Jesus. Usually talking religion when desperate to distract the nation, Bush mentions Christ's name most often when his own credibility is direly circumspect and when it's most politically convenient. Indeed he mutters Jesus under the swooning approval and to the delight of his twelve apostles of moral corruption: James Dobson, Gary Bauer, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Robert Novak, Jeff Gannon, Karl Rove, Jeb Bush, Bill First, Tom Delay, Rush Limbaugh, and last, but certainly not least, Ralph Reed.

Seriously folks, just how much more damning evidence do we need about this administration and their "faith based initiatives"? Or this suspect, money hungry gang of twelve? When is our society finally going to rally against the Twelve Corrupt Disciples?

Or are we all past the point of caring? Are we too distracted by reality TV, ever higher gas prices, and the "threat" gay marriage represents to straights to worry over our nation's declining political morality and our sinking credibility around the world?

Previous Presidents have been impeached for far less that the actions of our current leader. And as the administration skates through documented moral abuse after moral abuse, is it no wonder that so many truly patriotic citizens are so alarmed that Bush is now possibly poised to name three lifetime termed justices to the Supreme Court?

Today a New York Times Reporter and an underdog ethics champion sits in prison, yes that's right prison. She was jailed because she refused to bow down. She and the NYTimes repeatedly declined to reveal her sources on a story she never wrote, pointing toward a chum baited fishing expedition improperly aimed toward her and other journalists. She had nothing to do with the illegal outing of a CIA operative. That outing (the same one that was ACTUALLY reported by correspondent Robert Novak-a correspondent friendly to the Bush Administration, and a man who refuses to answer any questions regarding his role in the scandal) seems once again pointing directly back to White House darling Karl Rove.

Additionally this outing seems to be a retaliatory move aimed to offer gotcha paybacks.

The CIA outing was launched only after the operative's husband inconveniently made mince meat of the administration's defense citing evidence linking Saddam to Nuclear Weapons Proliferation-evidence that was the Bush Administration's entire justification for our war against Iraq in the first place.

So let's recap. This administration drummed up false evidence, aggressively planning a war it had no legitimate defense to start (See the recently leaked British Intelligence memos). This plan culminated with Bush hijacking American 9/11 outrage, resulting in our nation deflecting Bin Ladden aimed hostility toward an uninvolved Iraq.

Old news you say?

Tell that to the folks in London.

So what have we gained?

1,700 dead troops. And rising.

Countless thousands wounded.

Thousands and thousands of Iraqi casualties. And now Iraq has become the greatest terrorist training camp on the planet. How cool is that? If Bin Ladden clones survive their apprenticeship, they graduate with honors and can ply their trade in Spain, or England, or maybe...here.

Bin Ladden laughs at us. He is still free and ever vindicated as thousands of pissed young Muslims join the suicide brigades. Meanwhile back at home, the army can no longer attract recruits and our entire military suffers as most Americans no longer trust the administration. Moms and dads stand up at PTA meetings protesting military recruiting tactics and reservists find their tours of duty extended.

Bush, who is so fond of referencing Jesus, seems hell bent on breaking Ten Commandment after Ten Commandment. The paradox becomes this: The very Commandments his administration and allies rally to defend (and don't tell me you don't know their spiel by heart) becomes what is violated daily. While whining about liberals stomping God out of the Flag, the Constitution, and government, these conservatives distract their supporters. The moral outrage claimed by Focus on the Family, the Moral Majority, and The Family Research Council translates into big financial pay offs- all that misdirected anger encourages a near endless stream of contributions. The vicious cycle continues. Conservative power and wealth grows and the end results becomes the opposite of everything is true.

So what gives?

Do those commandments only apply to other nations? How relevant are those moral guidelines, the ones they so piously want posted in the halls of government, on courthouse lawns, and in courtrooms across the nation if our President ignores these tenants himself?

This administration has no credibility. Our President knowingly lied to the people of this nation. The Bush Administration knowingly bore false witness. They have coveted the resources of Iraq. They have allowed murder to reign unchecked in Iraq. In doing so, they have taken the Lord's name in vain.

If there was no moral justification for the war in Iraq, then Bush must answer on a moral level for what he has initiated. Indeed he has done everything Jesus told us not to do.

It's disgusting that the religious right demonstrates no consistent conscience. It's sickening that the same groups that rally against gay marriage, abortion, and eminent domain seizures in this country, blindly support an administration completely lacking a moral compass abroad. It's disgusting that the real Nuclear threats of Iran, Pakistan, and North Korea have been ignored. It's disgusting that the administration has ignored the genocide happening in the Sudan on its watch. It's disgusting that the administration's moral ineptitude is making Saddam look like the good guy. It's disgusting that the country is rapidly being bankrupted while the wealthy enjoy amazing gains and corporations enjoy unfettered unaccountability.

Yet Bush still utters Christ's name, claiming allegiance to all Jesus represented. All the while ignoring the inconvenient reality that actions speak far louder than words. And the actions of our leadership scream of monsters. Not of God.
