Four Blogs and A Funeral...

It's been a rough week up here.

For those of you that didn't catch the national news, a very powerful mass of unstable air moved out the central basin desert, slamming into Spokane with 80 mph winds, bringing trees down on houses from Spokane clear up into the Northern Idaho panhandle. Idaho Highway 41 was closed for hours, impassable from so many downed trees.

By the time the storm reached Pend Oreille County, the geography of the mountains further funneled the winds, focusing their intensity. Some gusts were reported to be near three digits by the time they reached Furport and the series of benches that support the Selkirk Crest. The storm seemed to hit the divide and then it spun until spent. Still, the debris picked up along the way lost momentum when the winds reached the peaks, and dirt rained down for hours. There was so much stuff in the air, you could not see the river which is less than 500 feet from the house.

We did not sustain any damage but we witnessed plenty of destruction all around us.

Thursday was a tough day as well. My great Aunt Dorothy passed away. This week I've gotten quite behind with family and funerals, and four partially completed blogs. I'll write more later...but in the meantime here is a bunch of links and prayer requests...and for those of you sweltering out there a reminder of cooler days.
