Some of you are...
just finsishing finals
before you start a long trip home...
Some of you are...
just bumping
the last unloading dock
and then pointing it toward the motel...
Some of you are...
just checking baggage...
Some of you are...
staring toward heaven
as TSA caresses places
not touched in a decade...
Some of you are...
already wondering
how ya can stand
another mile of "are we there yet?"
And "Daddy! Jason's still on my side!"
Some of you are...
About to stop the car.
Because you can no longer
stand the ride...
Some of you are....
wishing on a previous
holiday trip...
Some of you are...
Wondering how come this one
is already going by so quick.
Some of you are...
missing someone
who's no longer there.
Some of you are...
angry at anyone
who this year
just doesn't care.
Some of you are...
trying to cover the bills,
even as you wonder
if the car can make it...
Over all the hills...
Some of you are...
dreaming of love
still
yet to come...
Some of you are...
praying that this time
hope won't come undone...
Some of you are...
wondering
why
they have the holidays at all
Some of you really...
can't believe traffic
can actually move
at a stillness
slower that crawl....
Some of you are
Occupying space...
Some of you are...
Traveling in pairs
Some of you are...
Greiving new loss
Some of you are....
angry over a job
or at your boss....
Some of you
will drink, or smoke or avoid
The day....
While Some of you will
sit in silence
as a fire roars close
Thankful...
to see another chance...
that it turned out
Exactly this way.
