Some key points:
  • Bachmann studied with Oral Roberts University Coburn Law School Professor John Eidsmoe, who she recently described as "one of the professors who had a great influence on me".  John Eidsmoe is tied to White Supremists Groups and is a well known confederate and slavery apologist. Tea Party organizers were forced to cancel his speaking engagments after Associated Press articles surfaced revealing his extensive involvment with these groups.

  • Bachmann claims to have "raised" 23 foster children, a claim challenged by senior staff member Kris Harvieux of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

  • Bachmann has made opposition to gay marriage her signature issue in Minnesota believing that homosexuality is curable. Speaking to a Christian radio station about gay teenagers last year, Bachmann's husband Marcus, whose practise profits from treating gay people with discredited therapies in his counseling practice, said, "Barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined, and just because someone feels this or thinks this, doesn't mean that we're supposed to go down that road."

  • Bachmann will say anything.  During a Minnesota Statehouse hearing on gay marriage, her gay step sibbling and numerous family members appeared to protests Bachmann's stand.  When confronted by the press Bachmann responded claiming that she'd polled her siblings and stepsiblings, and that six of the nine agreed with her. Her stepbrother Mike LaFave was horrified. "The reality was she hadn't taken a family vote count, nor would my family ever do such a thing," he says. "I just find it terrible that when Michele was taken by surprise by a question she wasn't prepared for, the first thing she did was throw not only my sister but her whole family under the bus."
