Before I started (and stopped) driving truck, I often taught one-week computer programming classes in Seattle. When the class weeks were back-to-back, I would take my rental car into the mountains. I've skiied Snowqualmie (or, as the locals called it then, "Slushqualmie").

But my favorite memory of the area was when I visited Roslyn, WA, just to the east of the pass. This is the town that stood in for fictional "Cicely, Alaska" in "Northern Exposure". Cicely's main street was a Roslyn side street, but it was so cool to walk there and eat in the restaurant with the moose painting on its side and buy a T-shirt in "Ruth Ann's" general store.
