This comes from a post election survey done at Belief Net:
"Over 52 percent still felt Bush was a better Christian than former Democratic President Bill Clinton, while 13 percent felt the reverse was true. About a third rated them evenly."
Let's see...among right wing evangelicals Bush lands in the sought after "better Christian column". Have these people ever read a Bible? Have they ever read Christ's words?
Bush has advocated torture, hung out endlessly with the modern version of the Temple Money Changers, he's allowed kidnapping, murder, and dishonesty/secrecy to be central tenants of his administration.
Republican mandates have defunded schools, denied funding for programs that feed people, address poverty, help in natural disaster mitigation, and that minister to the homeless- of which nearly 75% are war veterans.
Bush has given tax break after tax break to the richest people in the country, he has defunded those agencies which serve to protect us from Wall Street abuses, environmental abuses, and he has continually threatened lower middle class jobs through vicious free trade policies.
And that makes him a better Christian how?
Oh yeah...he can say Jesus.
More here on current evangelical thinking...

One wonders if these folks would have rather worshipped the apostle Paul than Christ. Paul's politics seem to be a much closer mirror to their world view than what Jesus Christ preached.
