The latest...
~ABC news has reported that inappropriate contact between congressional pages and Rep Mark Foley dates back to at least 2001. Republican committee members and pages serving Republicans were warned to watch themselves around Foley.
Neither the Democrat Congressperson serving on the congressional page oversight committee, nor the pages serving Democratic representatives were warned about these concerns.
~CNN reports Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert "does not recall" being warned about Foley last year.
~And this political "tit for tat" tidbit...Rep. Mark Foley provided the tie breaking vote that allowed CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement) to sail through the house. It's easy to see why his resignation might have been very inconvenient prior to that important vote...
And has anybody noticed that whenever Republicans get into trouble, they seem to find themselves entering the rehab promised land? Rush Limbaugh comes to mind...
~The Washington Post reports that Condi Rice "doesn't recall" a meeting with George Tenant and James Black on July 10th, 2001 where according to Bob Woodward's new book "State of Denial" both men urged her to be very concerned about terrorists threats against the United States.
~Also according to Woodward, President Bush thanked the Saudi's for upping oil production during the 2004 election season and for keeping prices low...the Saudi's responded that they "don't recall" trying to influence an election but that they only upped production to prevent the world from slipping into a recession.
Nearly half of all Americans believe the recent staggering and unprecedented drop in oil prices is politically motivated. They might just be on to something.
