Views from here...

Yesterday Kevin and I drove around the local area-we'd planned on going to Montana (An hour from here) but instead we stuck closer to home...the weather was iffy and we'd been under a red flag alert for high forest fire danger so it seemed best to stay close to home...This mountain is actually in Idaho-and we are standing near the state line in Washington...
Looking toward the south...again back into Idaho, and the Oldtown/Newport Area...
This shot was taken looking toward the Northwest...if you enlarge this picture you can see just a sliver of Calispel Lake, as well as the Western Crest of the Selkirks. That's the Pend Oreille River running through most of the picture, with the southern end of the Calispel Valley lowlands filling in the area not foothilled...
This was taken near Bead Lake road...
This shot was taken from my land...and looks west toward where the river turns north toward Canada...
Wetlands near Sandy Shores...
Kevin shot this photo...which I thought was magnificent...
The highlands facing Saddle Mountain...looking due south...
One of the many sloughs on the Pend Oreille River...these areas provide some great fishing...
From the top peaks of the Selkirks, stair stepping down to the Pend Oreille River, there are a series of wide open natural benches that provide wide grasslands and meadows...We see a lot of deer, elk, moose, and other critters in this terrain...All of this area was carved out by glaciers and stands as a testament to the incredible natural forces that originally carved out this region.
