Of God...

I've been learning a few lessons lately about prayer.

What to ask for. What to avoid.

The tremendously gifted writer Anne Lamott says there are two basic prayers... she says when she prays it basically comes down to "Help me, help me, help me. Or Thank you, thank you, thank you..."

I'd offer one more...

"Are you still there?"

I know many folks just assume that gay people don't pray. Or that if we do petition, our words are sent to Satan. Gay Christian? Gay Muslim? Gay Jew? Gay person who prays and doesn't turn into a ball of fire or attract lightning?

So they send requests sent to a higher power? Like yeah, right. As if they'd be heard.

Right out my front door are miles of trails and with the Ranger Station being just down the street, they tend to be well maintained. I've decided its a good place to talk to God. Its an even better place to try to hear a response.

With the wonders of fall just beginning...I can certainly see one... Posted by Picasa
