Highway Markers...

The summer travel season is upon us.

Over the memorial day weekend, as I was riding to Spokane with my cousin, I witnessed one of the closest near-miss highway accidents I'd seen in a long time.

With the summer travel season upon us, kids out of school, and everyone preoccupied with those dog days of summer, I thought it might be appropriate to remind everyone to keep their mind on the road. A split second of inattention can result in a lifetime of consequences.

The above photo shows an official Montana State Highway Marker. This roadside marker is marks a place where a person was killed in some highway related mishap. Some fatalities are marked by hearts. Most are marked by simple white crosses. The State of Arizona also marks road fatalities in a similar fashion.

Drive safely. Drive sober. And arrive alive.
