50 miles of stop and go
This is what it looked like from just west of Ellensburg, WA all the way to the summit of Snoqualmie Pass. Everyone heading back to Seattle after the long weekend. Sort of makes me appreciate where I live just that much more....

The Writing and the Living...
As a result, much of what I’ve found that I might have to say is probably a bit more involved than even what might pass for a lone, longer than it should be blog entry.
File it all under the compelling heading “What was I thinking”?
Or not.
I do apologize for the silence, the lack of posting, and new photo’s.
To update some of what’s been happening---here’s a few highlights.
The last day we still had snow on the ground was April 30th.
I owe someone a hat, and as soon as I get through the email, I will announce a winner, send you a note, and head into town to get the next batch made.
Next, the feral cats have made friends.
Naughty friends.
Oh we’ve talked. Through the window, that cats and I, we’ve covered in detail their glaring lack of discretion and judgment. I’ve explained that they’re hanging around in the company of souls who care not for their well being. I say to the kitties in my midst, “Run far from them, for they are mischievous, a bad influence, and sure to get you grounded!”
Cats listen not.
Alas, thanks to the Cats in My Midst, I am now regularly visited by Raccoons, Skunks, and other cats, coming from how many miles away, I don’t know.
I’m not really a cat person.
They claimed me, not I them. But since they’ve claimed the photon on the front porch, and I’ve accepted their presence here, I admit that I sometimes look forward to watching their antics---especially when I should be writing or sleeping, or reading.
But I’ve also learned to move around the house slowly. I never know when the skunks will show up. I’d like to pass on any potential opportunities to scrub the entire house down with tomato juice.
The other night a skunk and I played stare down through the window, each of us willing the other to move.
But its these wild cat’s that really play me.
It’s ok to look but not touch. As long as a window separates us, they lay on the top cushion, which is covered with hair and mud, and they torment and tease me, lying right next to the window. But if I open the door, they scatter.
The raccoons also play me. They walk on their hind legs across the porch, turning everything upside down, and to see all these masked faces peering in at me, as the cats do nothing to protect their territory, is the surest assault on boundaries.
People in the city have gang bangers to tag up all their stuff.
I have skunks and coon’s, doing the same.
In other news, my sister was very pregnant.
Then my new nephew Dereck joined us last Monday, June 1.
My niece Kelcie now has over 300 Hot Wheels. I receive voice mails from her now that she has phone skills, wanting me to bring over a new batch of mystery Hot Wheels. I am happy to oblige. We are trying to decide how old Dereck should be before he gets his first Hot Wheel.
In the last several weeks I’ve been going through all sorts of not so fun medical/dental stuff.
With the outstanding vision issues, prior jaw surgeries, and so forth, anything that comes along can sidetrack me. I’ve even had an opportunity to check out another E R room.
I’m ok now, but some of the medical stuff has been way not in my plans.
School and research pursuits have been intense. I hope to surface in July....
The writing remains like bleeding on paper. Taking pictures is much more non invasive.
Sorry for the time out. Thanks for sticking in out with me….
