Love the snow fence. Makes you proud to be an American, doesn't it?
I appreciate your commentary. As an Iowan, where we won't be able to move until after the caucuses without stepping on a candidate, I've been struck by how little any of them --- Democrat and Republican alike --- have to offer to point us forward in a constructive way. Sad.
I do have a warm spot inside for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Wall, however, probably because I was there and knew some of the guys represented by the names upon it. So I'd like to keep that one, please.
I remember how much outrage there was at the time its design was accepted --- no glorification of war, no triumphalism, just that black slash intended to heal. Some of the statuary was added after that as a peace offering to the chest-beaters, mostly older and from earlier wars or from no war at all. But I like it anyway.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with to commemorate the dead of this war. Oh my.
It's a cold evening here in the heartland and snow is starting to fall, so I think I'll just sit by the fire and think about this for a while.
