How Timmy Got His Groove Back

This is one of those "Why men should listen to women more often stories."

Because in this case, two very special women probably saved my life on Saturday.

"It" seemed really really minor. AT the time.

Sometime after arriving back home at the ranch early Friday morning, and between when my cousin Stacy picked me up mid morning, I was bitten by a spider.

Not just any spider but one that literally took a small chunk out of my arm. When Stacy arrived, I showed the wound to her and joked this better not turn into any sort of flesh eating thing. Stacy responded that I wasn't funny and that even dead, I was expected to be at her wedding in two weeks. Mainly because I am performing it.

Now I realize that little bit of news just caused several people to scroll back up and reread what they just read.
Yep, I am marrying my cousin.

No I am not marrying her myself, but I am conducting the ceremony, helping folks remember their vows and saying really important things for about five, ten, twenty, or thirty minutes. Things that no one will remember by the time the wedding reception is over. At least I hope they won't remember these bits of wisdom.

Anyway by the time Saturday morning rolled around the bite was very swollen, and although the pictures don't do it justice the bite area had swelled to the size of a silver dollar and long red streaks were running up my arm toward my heart and lymph nodes.

Which I was later to learn is a really really bad sign, especially if your cousin is planning on your attendance at her wedding.

Alive.

The pics tell the rest of the story.

Oh yeah I should be fine. I am just on heavy duty meds for the next week. And wondering how many zeros the Emergecncy room bill will have on it. Good thing I got all that laughter out of my system.
